Personal History		Hastios was born in Ovaria, on the El Aurian homeworld, in 2105. His parents were proud members of the El Aurian hierarchy and they held their family name in great esteem. His father was High Judge Silvyr Eilfaren, a man of great lineage drawing from the line of the old Eilfarens that helped build the law system on El Auria. His mother, Gaelira Eilfaren, was a very smart woman and a scientist that excelled in the field of cybernetics. Hastios spent the first 40 years of his life on El Auria learning under the tutorship of his teachers, his mentors and guidance on the El Aurian way of life. So much had been knowledge that had been gained over the centuries that sometimes it was an information overload but he often found himself excelling in more of the physical activities of his studies. In 2145 he set off into the galaxy and travelled. He visited many worlds in his home quadrant and then beyond. He managed to acquire himself a ship and some crew and set off learning what he could about what made species prosper, and perish. He also visited far away worlds such as Earth, Cardassia, Vulcan, Kronos to name but a few. His Star Trek taking him all across the known galaxy at that point. His travels were exciting, they were challenging but he got a sense of the galaxy from it and he wouldn’t have changed anything… well, maybe apart from the Nausican knife wound to his abdomen, but it was all in good fun. In 2208 Hastios returned to El Auria to document his travels on paper. It was now a custom to do so as his people were now always concerned with how easily knowledge can be lost, that all information is sacred. His stories entertained locals at their social gatherings, intrigued the intellectuals and encaptivated the kids as Hastios travelled the world telling people of his adventures. He even wrote a book, Hastios’ Guide to the Galaxy. In 2216 Hastios joined the El Aurian Defence Force. Their mandate to protect El Auria and its allies in the United Alliance. This was formed many years prior but had spun up into overdrive due to the encroaching threat of a species known as the Borg. Over the coming years Hastios fought in many engagements, some wins, some losses but ultimately El Auria fell in the summer of 2265 and his people were displaced. Thankfully his family being of higher status in the hierarchy gained access to an ‘Ark’ which ensured their safety off world. Hastios refused his seat and fought to keep other evacuees safe as they attempted to flee. Hastios travelled with his beaten crew and ended up abandoning ship due to battle damage after a couple of months and joining another of the Arks that left for pastures new. On that Ark he met Zaos Orihana. They struck up a great friendship and Zaos became instrumental in Hastios’ life, guiding it in a different direction at least for a short time. He helped keep Zaos’ aim true and ended up assisting in a small way to the discovery of their new world, Kaitos. In 2358 Hastios enlisted in the Starfleet Marine Corps, much to his fathers annoyance that he had not chosen to remain on Kaitos. His time on Earth was great, his marine training more so. He excelled in sports due to his athleticism, build and strength. A 6ft 4 blond haired mountain bested most when he fought in martial arts competitions as well as the Starfleet wrestling team. His scores in leadership, strategic thinking, and his tactical prowess helped him gain the top percentage in his class upon the completion of his training. He was posted on the USS Silver as a Corporal and listed as being attached to Marine Intelligence. It was shortly after this posting that the Romulans reappeared on the scene and this scared a few higher ups in Starfleet Command. Hastios was sent undercover to Romulus. This lasted only 2 years and the information he gathered was valuable as to the state of the Romulan Empire. In 2361 there was to be an attempt to push further into Federation space, to attack a colony discreetly and expand for resources. It was due to Hastios’ relay of information that this attack was stopped. The Romulans claimed to have ‘lost’ the plans and that the political state within the Senate changed forcing the plan to be dropped. In 2363 the minor skirmishes of the Federation-Cardassian War were still ongoing. The now Staff Sergeant Eilfaren was assigned a team of 4 and they were to be embedded within Cardassian society once again to gather intelligence and relay information to Starfleet and Federation officials. Luckily years later an armistice was signed, and hostilities ended forcing them to leave Cardassia after 3 years within their culture. In some ways Hastios admired the militaristic rigidity of the Caradassian culture and was a bit saddened to leave. In 2366 he took a few months leave to re-acclimatize to being himself once more. Undercover work tended to have an effect that made people lose some of their identity, but he never needed much time to bounce back. In the later months of 2366 was on board the USS Moriarty when it fought against the Borg Cube at Wolf 359. He was on a small marine vessel designed for hit and run manoeuvres and commanded by Major Horatio Bennet. During the attack he was killed, along with the XO, and Hastios assumed command due to being the most senior in the chain of command. He managed to perform some skilled attacks by pretending to be damaged beyond interest and eventually had to play dead in order to survive. As the Borg left the system the Moriarty performed search and rescue on board some of the lesser damaged ships and saved other officers that would have otherwise died. Hastios was promoted to First Sergeant and his resulting actions granted him the honour of remaining in command of the USS Moriarty. His crew rallied around him, the embodiment of marine culture and respect. During a scouting mission in 2369 they discovered a damaged Tholian vessel adrift near the Alegan system. Upon boarding the vessel, as they gave no response to hails and there were no lifesigns, the ship came to life. It turned out it was a trap as the Tholians had shielded their lifesigns in order to capture Starfleet officers for torture to gather information of their own. Equipped with portable transporter pins Hastios managed to get most of his away team off the ship by damaging their shield generator. His skills of covert espionage did not go unused. He set the ship to self-destruct and managed to get back to the Moriarty, escaping before more Tholian vessels could arrive. In 2370 she was transferred from the Moriarty onto a newly designed Defiant class vessel, the USS Ares. This was to be a ship that didn’t really exist for the reasons people thought. This was to be a specially designed marine SPEC OPS vessel. Later that year first contact is made with the Dominion and the destruction of the USS Odyssey sends ripples through the fleet. The Ares is ordered to patrol near DS9 and surrounding systems to ensure peace is kept, ultimately the scope of the Dominions plans cause this to fail. By 2373 full scale war between the Dominion begins and casualties amongst the marine community rise as they are the first sent into the crosshairs of Dominion rifles. Due to this Hastios is granted the promotion to Sergeant Major and at his request brings on someone he trusts as his XO, now Gunnery Sergeant Bernard Montgomery. The next two years were bloody, destructive and sneaky from the Ares as they were granted a cloaking device from the Federation, secretly of course. The USS Defiant had the counterpart cloak but the Ares was not to be known to have one. They ventured through the wormhole on many occasions and this is where they learnt of the plot that would cause their disappearance. In 2375 while engaging in the final stages of the Dominion War the USS Ares was sent to stop a temporal project being run by the Founders and the Dominion. The Dominion knew that they were losing the war. So, their plan was to manipulate space/time to go back and win major engagements using the knowledge of the Federation, Klingon, and Romulan strategies that they now had. The Ares was successful and destroyed the facility and all information that it had even existed. Thankfully after this the war soon comes to an end and the Ares has played her part. In 2378 Hastios relinquished command of the Ares to Montgomery and transferred to Starbase Lionheart in more of an administrative capacity. He assists General Henry Adama of the 125th Starfleet Marine Expeditionary Brigade in assigning mission roles, collating intel and whatnot. In 2382 is offered the opportunity to become an officer and gain a commission to which Hastios accepted and was granted the rank of Marine Captain. Hastios remained on Adama’s staff when he transferred to Marine HQ on Earth in 2387 where Hastios took over as an instructor, physical trainer and wrestling coach. Later promoted to Major in 2393. In 2398 Hastios was offered a chance to join a special project under the Department of Temporal Investigations. A name he’d heard whispered but never came across. The USS Herodotus was the ship's name and the position was Chief Security/Tactical Officer. His cover assignment would be on a classified assignment.
Service Record		2358 – Starfleet Marine Basic Training. 2361 - Granted the rank of Corporal and listed as Military Intelligence on the USS Silver. ~CLASSIFIED OPERATION~ Year undercover on Romulus. 2363 – 2366 Still listed as Military Intelligence Officer on USS Silver. Promotion to Staff Sergeant in 2363 ~CLASSIFIED OPERATION~ 3-year undercover operation on Cardassia. Led 4-man espionage team. 2367 – On board USS Moriarty as 2XO and Security/Tactical Officer. Takes part in Battle of Wolf 359 and takes command of vessel due to death of superiors. During this manages to somewhat damage the Borg cube before ‘playing possum’ and being able to perform search and rescue on other Starfleet vessels. Saves many lives. 2367 – Given command of USS Moriarty and promotion to First Sergeant. 2369 – Avoids Tholian capture during scouting mission and is able to escape vessel by using their own self-destruct against them. This deters any action from them as a result. 2370 – Given command of newly designed Defiant class USS Ares, a new SPEC OPS marine vessel. 2373 – USS Ares given secret cloaking device to counter Dominion threat as war erupts. Takes part in many operations assigned by Starfleet Marine Intelligence/Naval Intelligence. Promoted to Sergeant Major. 2378 - Transfers to Starbase Lionheart under command of Brigadier General Henry Adama, 125th Starfleet Marine Experitionary Brigade. 2382 - Offered officer candidacy and accepts, eventually being made Marine Captain. 2387 - 2397 Transfers with Adama to Marine HQ on Earth and becomes an instructor, physical trainer and wrestling coach. Promoted to Major in 2393. 2397 - PRES Officially - Transfers to DTI branch, USS Herodotus as Chief Security/Tactical Officer. Unofficially - Undercover Operative, Starfleet Marine Intelligence.
