Personality & Traits
General Overview | Juli grew up learning how to perform, so even when she is feeling insecure or uncomfortable in a situation, no one would know it unless she wanted them to. She’s often perceived by colleagues and superiors to be confident and sure of herself, and Juli has no problem working a room because in those cases she has an audience and she knows what they want and how to interact. Those who get to know her on a more personal level are often surprised to learn that she harbors a lot of insecurities and fear of rejection. Juli is also compassionate and has a very strong sense of justice. Her empathetic nature drives her to want to help anyone who is less fortunate or who is hurting – whether it be a listening ear or something more. However, she finds it difficult to lean on others when she needs support. | |
Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths: She’s resourceful and a big-picture thinker who handles herself well in a crisis or under a time crunch, Adjusts to change and easily adapts, Extremely efficient when she’s able to hyperfocus on a problem, Sympathetic/Empathetic toward others, Kind Weakness: Can be distracted or procrastinate tasks that are not interesting to her or do not have a deadline; Anxiety making final decisions - would rather present options than make the final call (in her personal life this has led to all out avoidance of certain issues; in her work life this presents itself more as imposter syndrome. She makes the decisions she needs to and appears confident, but still harbors self-doubt); Can be too sensitive - take things too personally. |
|
Ambitions | Helping people whether on a small scale or a large one has become both her daily and life ambition. On a personal note to better herself, she hopes to overcome her anxiety around making decisions. Juli has considered her own command at some point, but realized that would not be for her unless she became more comfortable in her own decisions. She does think about her Orion family from time to time. Juli considers it a pipe dream of sorts, but she also hopes to get her parents to understand her career choices and be proud of her and what she’s accomplished. |
|
Hobbies & Interests | Singing, dancing, theater. Anything around water, pools, beaches, boating, swimming, waterskiing. Her favorite happy hour splurge is nachos and a rum runner. She prefers fiction over non-fiction when it comes to reading, movies, holoprogram, and likes classic dystopian pieces. |

Personal History | C’Mila Juli goes by C'Mila to her family, but it’s a name she’s rarely shared with anyone since joining Starfleet. To her it’s a name that represents a past she’s still working to leave behind. C'Mila was the second oldest of four children, the oldest daughter. Her family was in agriculture, and was a family that enjoyed favor with one of the more powerful clans of Orion territory, and as such there were many privileges, but also certain responsibilities. Juli and her sister were raised differently than the boys. In addition to standard schooling, Juli and her sister were also taught a special art of how to behave - ways to influence the men around them. This struck Juli as peculiar even at a young age. As Juli grew into adolescence, she and her siblings were given more and more responsibilities with the family business: entertaining guests, accompanying their parents on business trips, and overseeing employee matters. Juli realized early on that she didn’t really have an appetite for business. Not long later she learned that the rumors about the Syndicate were true. Her family’s role was usually just to stay quiet and look the other way; however, that wasn’t always the case, and she accidentally became privy to her mother’s involvement in having someone executed for the Syndicate. When Juli found out, her reaction was visceral. She felt sick for days and couldn’t look at either of her parents the same way again. She was terrified to tell her siblings what she’d found. What if they already knew and didn’t care, or what if by talking about it, she’d put herself and her own family in danger. Juli tried to reconcile her gut feelings against her family’s activities for months without success, before she finally made the decision to leave home at sixteen. When she told her parents they didn’t seem surprised or upset. Nor did they act particularly happy for her either. Her parents quietly gave her enough financial support to establish herself on Earth and take an Academy preparatory program and told her good luck. Juli was both heartbroken and relieved during the break from her parents and her transition to eventually becoming a Starfleet officer. Having the Academy preparatory program helped. Getting into Starfleet Academy suddenly became Juli’s purpose for being, and she poured herself into everything that the program had to offer. Studying was a welcome distraction, and it paid off. Passing the admissions requirements and getting accepted into the Academy were the happiest moments in her life up until that point. When Juli arrived at the Academy, she knew she had to study hard to be successful, and started to push herself to the detriment of not fostering a social life as well. Her roommate, Ashley, was also studying the sciences, and noticed that Juli seemed to feel out of place on Earth, and made a point to help her acclimate to customs and make friends. Ashley quickly became a close confidante, and Juli considers Ashley to be a part of her chosen family - feeling more of a connection with her than she does her biological family. With Ashley’s help, and advice from Academy instructors, Juli flourished both academically and socially at the Academy. By Juli's sophomore year she was feeling confident in her ability to succeed in her studies, and took up music again, joining the women’s A Cappella group on campus, and performing with them during her next three years at the Academy. Juli excelled immediately at her first position out of the Academy, mostly thanks to the Assistant Chief Science Officer on board who saw her potential, and how others were willing to follow her lead. Juli was granted an extraordinary amount of opportunities to work on away teams, and be given responsibilities on some of the long term research projects that the science crew was working on. While she was there she took an interest in the ship's special operations division, and cross-trained in multiple disciplines to give her the credentials she would need to take on more challenging assignments. Juli's next assignment after the Titania involved a classified mission outside of Federation Space where her team tried to intercept shipments being passed to and from the Breen homeworld. In 2393 she was dispatched as a part of a team to Xindi space after the Breen began to target one of their worlds. Most of the last few years of Juli's career has been serving aboard the USS Luna, a ship that has come to feel like home to her. Leaving the crew, especially her department was a hard choice to make, but Juli has always looked forward to the next best challenge, and the mission of Herodotus seemed like nothing if not a challenge. |
